Sunday School Annual Report for 2000

Sunday School classes for the children have been held each Sunday during the last portion of the morning worship service. Songs, stories and activities teaching them about being special, trusting God, doing what is right, being brave, praying, obeying God, loving others, learning to be happy and thankful, sharing, helping others, and saying I'm sorry have been the year's agenda. I am interested in getting the adult Sunday school class started again and am praying that many adults will join in for a time of earnest bible study.

Respectfully submitted,

Karen Wilkinson
Sunday School Superintendent

Volunteers 2000 Annual Report

The Volunteer-Missionary Society of the Arena Congregational Church met regularly on the first Wednesday of the month in the fellowship room at 1 :30 p.m. There are fifteen members with eight in regular attendance. One month we have a devotional and the next month, a project of some kind. Cards, phone calls, and visitations are made to shut ins and nursing homes.

Some projects were making lap robes, a church banner, cleaning the church, money donations of $1 00.00 to Madison Rescue Mission and $100.00 to R.B.C. Ministries for "Our Daily Bread", given to those attending church. Poinsettia plants were given at Christmas time to Carol Baker, Irene Baker, Doris Davis, Harriet Roberts, Harriet Walter, Carrie Nelson and Alice Linley. We purchased and planted flowers in the three outdoors planters.

In July we had a planned potluck dinner and in October we had an outing with lunch at Lystra's in Sauk City and then visited Ski Hi Apple Orchard. We had a cookie exchange in conjunction with our December meeting.

Our officers for the coming two years are: President, Emma Abplanalp, Vice President, Marion Sanford, Secretary, Vivian Dodge, Treasurer, Clara Harrop, Committee persons; Sunshine: Darlene Mellom, Lunch Committee: Darlene Mellom, Vivian Dodge, Clara Harrop.

We served lunch after the funerals of Orielle Stanley, Harold Johnson, and Joseph Salava with the help of church members and people in the community, friends and relatives.

It is our hope to be truly Volunteers to help in whatever way we can in the name of Christ.

Respectfully submitted,
Vivian Dodge, Secretary
